Founded in 1990, the Applied Electronics Department represents an academic structure in which its members sustain the idea that engineering should be based on high level theoretical knowledge that must be focused on concrete and practical implementations. The courses offered by the members of the department are presented both in Romanian and English.
The department’s staff assists its students in professional extra-curricular activities such as scientific student groups and professional contests: Interconnection Techniques in Electronics (TIE), Digilent Design Contest, Hard and Soft and so on. In the last few years, the department’s laboratories have been equipped with new furniture and modern electronic instrumentation. The department’s members are involved in national/international academic and research projects, as well as in various collaborations with partners from the industrial branch: Siemens, Continental Automotive, National Instruments, Elster-ABB, Hydroeletrica, etc. The department collaborates with universities from Europe and the USA. Students can benefit of scholarships and preparing stages which assures them a professional forming according to the norms of a modern engineering vocation in electronics and telecommunications.
